Thirty minutes in a red room

Red light is everywhere this year. Most people try it because of a feed. The ones who keep coming back have a different reason.

You’ve seen the masks. Somebody at work swears by theirs. Your feed has decided you need one. Red light has gone from niche to everywhere in about two years, and you’re curious, slightly sceptical, and mostly wondering: what is it actually like?

Here’s the answer, from inside the booth.

The door closes

You take your shoes off at the top of the stairs. Angelo hands you a pair of dark glasses and opens the door to a booth lined with lights: deep red ones you can see, and near-infrared ones just beyond what your eyes can pick up. Two seats. No UV, so it doesn’t tan. No real heat. It’s private, so you wear as much or as little as you like.

The door closes. The room turns red. And for thirty minutes, the world gets very small and very quiet.

The part nobody tells you about

Our booth has a secret. Built into the side is a halogenerator, a small machine that turns pure salt into a mist so fine you’d barely know it was there, and lets it drift through the booth while the lights are on.

People have sought out salt caves and salt rooms for generations. Here, that idea sits inside the same thirty minutes as your red light. You don’t do anything differently. You just breathe, and notice the air feels clean and slightly dry.

Two experiences, one door, one booking. Our infrared sauna has a halogenerator too, if you’d rather have the salt with warmth instead of light.

Who you’ll find in the red room

People who already use a mask at home and wanted the full-size version. People a few weeks after a cosmetic procedure, with their surgeon’s blessing. Oxygen clients who walk straight from the chamber to the booth. Couples and friends who sit side by side and don’t need to say anything.

What they share isn’t a goal. It’s a decision: that half an hour for themselves is worth protecting.

If you’re curious

Thirty minutes is £30, and there’s room for two. If you’re booking oxygen, you can add it straight after. We’re open every day, 8am to 8pm, up the stairs from Bath Passage. And if you want to ask anything first, Angelo answers the phone himself.
